News -> Morocco Dialing Plan Change

03/16/2009

Comfi has been informed that the telecommunications regulatory body in Morocco has activated a dialing plan change to all Moroccan numbers, effective Saturday, March 7, 2009.

Regulatory Agency Changes

The Moroccan regulatory agency will require all calls to mobile numbers to dial an extra number after the country code "212". Today, all Moroccan mobile numbers are 9 digits and belong to the following dial codes:

                         + 212 + 1XXXXXX + 212 + 7XXXXXX
                         + 212 + 4XXXXXX + 212 + 8XXXXXX
                         + 212 + 5XXXXXX + 212 + 9XXXXXX
                         + 212 + 6XXXXXX

The mandate will change all Moroccan mobile numbers to 10 digits with the addition of a 6 after the country code to create the following new dial codes:

                         + 212 + 6 + 1XXXXXX + 212 + 6 + 7XXXXXX
                         + 212 + 6 + 4XXXXXX + 212 + 6 + 8XXXXXX
                         + 212 + 6 + 5XXXXXX + 212 + 6 + 9XXXXXX
                         + 212 + 6 + 6XXXXXX

The Moroccan regulatory agency will also require all calls to landline numbers to dial an extra number after the country code 212. Today, all Moroccan landline numbers are 9 digits and belong to the following dial codes:

                         + 212 + 2XXXXXX + 212 + 3XXXXXX

The mandate will change all Moroccan landline numbers to 10 digits with the addition of a 5 after the country code to create the following new dial codes:

                         + 212 + 5 + 2XXXXXX + 212 + 5 + 3XXXXXX
