2013 Lollapalooza Brazil to rock São Paulo

March 13, 2013

For the 2013 Lollapalooza Brazil festival, sixty Brazilian and international acts will come together to perform at the São Paulo Jockey Club of São Paulo, Brazil. The three-day event features big name bands including Pearl Jam and the Killers. From March 29 to March 31, the São Paulo Jockey Club expects to see 200,000 visitors.

Though the event began predominantly as a grunge and alternative rock festival, Lollapalooza now unites musicians of all genres.

"São Paulo is an enormous urban center without a big festival and this an opportunity for rock fans to take advantage of national and international bands in a special format," said Leo Ganem, president of Geo Eventos, the organizer of Lollapalooza Brazil.

Friday March 29 will feature a lineup including Iceland's Of Monsters and Men, British DJ Feed Me, and Curitiba-based alternative band, Copacabana Club. Electronic music will follow from Passion Pit, Crystal Castles, DJ Porter Robinson, deadmau5 and Knife Party before the Killers close the first night.

Saturday features Brazil's Stop Play Moon, indie group Toro y Moi and Alabama Shakes. A Perfect Circle, Franz Ferdinand, Two Door Cinema Club and rapper Nas will perform in the evening. The Black Keys and Queens of the Stone Age will close the second night.

Sunday returns the festival to its grunge heritage with a performance by Pearl Jam. Hot Chip, Kaskade, Rusko and Major Lazer will finish the last night of Lollapalooza Brazil.

According to Loudwire, Lollapalooza was started by Jane's Addiction frontman Perry Farrel in 1991. In 2010, the North American Lollapalooza expanded from Chicago to feature a festival in Chile. Last year, the event spread even further, establishing Lollapalooza Brazil. Lollapalooza's next destination for expansion is Tel Aviv, Israel in August 2013. Lollapalooza Brazil also features Kidzapalooza with events for children under ten  including a kid-friendly dance party.
